Two jugglers from the recently founded company NTP present the most incredible performance ever imagined, not much for what happens on stage, but for what takes place in the audience. During the show, while the artists remain grounded to the earth, the attention shifts up into the air, where it flies everything they throw. Especially because of the use of the Diablo, typical Chinese tool. Diablos of different measures (of 3cm the smaller one, of half a meter the biggest one)will be thrown up reaching an incredible height. At the closing of the performance, the diablos will fly over the audience’s heads.

In the Palazzo Barbarigo, a private palazzo open for the friends of Carnival, an afternoon of amusements accompanied by music, dances with masters and malicious games of the 18th Century and particularly by the silouhette and shadows theatre show, including the Casanova revival. Hot chocolate and with cakes at 4.00 p.m. and a cocktail at 6.00 p.m. Under the theme of the cheerfulness of the Carnival, you will enjoy the private atmosphere of an afternoon where everybody meets everybody and you will find easy to make new friendship.

For the first time in Venice, an award for the best young soloists of the Venice Carnival will be organized at the Ca’Zanardi.
Under the aegis of Bruno Tosi, founder of the association Maria Callas, the ceremony will be held by a board of professional judges for every category of instruments. The young soloists will be awarded according to their category and their specific repertoire.
During the event, venitian pastries and the traditional hot chocolate will be served.
The afternoon will end with a concert of baroque music dedicated to the Venitian and European masters of the XVIII th century.

The power of kathakali comes from the fusion of the moving content of the stories on Hindu divinities with the beauty and the grace of acting and dance. INDIA – STORIE DEL GIARDINO DEI PERI

An exotic suite of ceremony costumes, that comprehends a ceremonial parade of soumptuos exotic masked actors on stilts, with balloons and golden sticks and sacred umbrellas. King and Queen, ministers and dignitaries, small monkeys and slaves (a dozen of actors and actresses) will advance through the crowd with dignity, fearlessness and kind complicity, while the actors on the tall stilts, visible from everywhere, will open a performance between a double border of ivory and silver fire’s reverberations enhancing the colors of bracades, silks and gold wore by masked actors. Once in a while the parade will stop to perform ceremonial rites such as the woad potlatch, the propitiatory dance of the Queen’s Court, the enthronement of the King and the turn of the celestial spheres…At the end of the route, in a place that will be decorated in advance with flowers and gold, two actors on small stilts, dressed up with the glowing, blown up Kathakali costumes, wearing silver inlayed crowns set with colourful glazed coleopters, will dance at the torches’ light performing an original choreography. Their faces dressed up by a make-up artist, with luminescent drawings, will be turned into living masks: the oriental sophisticated make-up art will celebrate its highest goals. This particular performance unifies the Oriental suggestions to the street theatre’s means, distinctive trait of this company.

TRAJECTORIES. Project on visual, plastic, music and performing arts. Directly connected to the avangardes,
and especially to the Schlemmer e Richter one, Sonia Biacchi’s research focuses on the possibility of producing signification by the abstract forms. In the meantime, the choreographic drawing by Cho Yong-Min proposes a choreography that captures the movements from descriptive and natural values creating abstracts forms that melts thamsevels in space with the ones creaed by the costumes.

INDIA-SPAGNA: KATHAK FLAMENCO con il MUSIC ENSEMBLE of BENARES

Kathak dance and flamenco; two apparently distant culture will meet in an extraordinary ensemble of dance and music. In 1982 Günter Paust had the idea of combining northern Indian Kathak dance with the Spanish Flamenco, founding the “Music Ensamble of Benares”. The gipsies travelling through the Rajasthan in India, brought the flamenco with them in Andalusia. For this reason it does not appear weird that these two forms, apparently so distant, of music and dance have so many common traits. Especially the rhythms and the melodies have the same root, since both are danced rhythmically and frenetically stepping on the ground. The Kathak dance is one of the most proper dance to be part of this project since, as the flamenco one, it offers great space to improvisation. The Kathak dancer faces the same training of the Tabla player. The Tabla player produces sound and rhythm by beating his fingers and palms on the Tabla, as well as the Kathak dancer reproduce them through the beating of the naked feet and ankle bracelets. The flamenco dancer and the tabla player try to be at the same time in harmony with one another. In this project the two dance techniques meet as well as the instrumental part meets with the chant, because of their similar Arabian roots. The flamenco guitar and the sitar do not have indeed common characteristics, but this does not make their musical combination less fascinating.

Within the fancy dress, wrapt in the mistery of one’s own mask, you’ll dance in the midst of either venetian and foreign masks, in the great game of transgression and seduction.
During the dinner and all along the night , music , fantasy, entertainments , colour and warmth, will be the frame for the magic of the party going on with a Show of international worlwide famous artists and performers , the School of Historical Dances – minuetto and passamezzo – you can attend to and the great Mask Ball in the Main Saloon with surprises and games based on the theme of the Night .

A welcome cocktail with international artists show and luxurious dinner, turned into a spectacular banquet by our artists in the unique costumes of the Atelier Tiepolo. Historical group dances and waltzes directed by a Dance Master accompanied by the Chamber Venice Orchestra. A prize for the best couple of dancers. Dress Code: costume
